Abstract:
Teachers in the 21st century must experiment with various learning innovations to achieve educational
golas. Traditional teachig methods that are teacher centred and rely on memorisation are being
replaced by more interactive and participatory approaches. The purpose of this study was to determine
the effect of using a project-based learning model assisted by Math Potato Chips media on the
mathematics learning outcomes of third-grade students at the Kampung Baru Learning Centre in
Malaysia. The research method used in this study was quantitative. The subjects in this study were five
third-grade students. The instrument used in this study consisted of 10 multiple-choice questions. Before
the questions were given to the third-grade students, the researcher conducted a validity test in the
fourth grade to determine the validity of the questions to be given. The research design in this study
was a one-sample t-test. Based on the results obtained, the average pretest score was 58.8. Next, the
researcher conducted research using the Project-Based Learning model assisted by potato chips media.
After the treatment was given, the researcher then administered a post-test with the same questions.
The average score on this post-test was 97.4. There was an increase in the learning outcomes of students
in grade III using the Project Based Learning model assisted by Math Potato Chips media. The value
obtained was significant < 0.05 with a sig value of 0.000. This means that there is an effect of using the
Project-Based Learning model assisted by Math Potato Chips media on the mathematics learning
outcomes of third-grade students at the Kampung Baru Learning Centre, Malaysia.
