Abstract:
The objective of this research was to find out the effect of Socioaffective
Language Learning Strategy on the Students’ Achievement in reading
comprehension. This research applied experimental research. The population of
this research was taken from the Eight grade and the second year students of
junior high school in SMP Terbuka Negeri 5 Medan Jl. Stasiun Desa Besar Medan
Labuhan at academic 2016/2017 with the total population were 133 students. This
research was applied purposive sampling. This research used experimental
research design namely One group pre-test and post-test, Therefore, the research
took one class as the experimental class. The sample was taken from third parallel
classes with the total number of sample was 33 student. The researcher were given
treatment by socioaffective language learning strategy. The instrument of
collecting data multiple choice which consist of 20 items. The data were analyzed
by using t-test formula. The result of the data showed that tobserve 7.4> ttable
2.03951 with degree of freedom (df) = n-k. The hypothesis was accepted. It
proves that Socioaffective Language Learning Strategy significantly effect to the
students’ achievement in reading comprehension.
