Abstract:
This research was a quantitative research. The objectives of this research was to
find out the effect of using blog as collaborative media on students’ writing skill.
This research was conducted at SMK Muhammadiyah 9 Medan, Jalan Garuda
Gang Taqwa Sei Kambing. The population of this research was taken from tenth
grade students of SMK Muhammadiyah 09 Medan on academic year 2019/2020
which consist of two classes they are X-TKJ1, and X-TKJ 2 with total 60
students, and were taken as sample by using total sampling technique. The
sample, then, was divided into two classes the experimental class which was
consisted of 30 students and treated by using blog as collaborative media, and the
control class which consisted of 30 students treated by using conventional media
test of writing recount text was administrated as the instruments of the study data
analysis technique. Each group was given pre-test, treatment and post-test. The
results showed that t test (2.939) is higher than t table (2.002) and degrees of
freedom (df) is 58. In other words, the hypothesis showed that Ho was rejected
and Ha was accepted, or there was significant effect of using Blog as collaborative
media on students’ writing skill.
