dc.description.abstract This research aims to identify, classify the types and analyze the contribution of English collocation found in the Jakarta Post newspaper to the writing course. The data of the research were in the form of English grammatical and lexical collocations are used in the editorial writings of the Jakarta Post newspaper. The data analysis was conducted by applying the stages proposed by Lexy J. Moleong (2014). It was descriptive qualitative research. The source of the data in this research was taken from the Jakarta Post newspaper issued on 14 August 2019. The technique of data collection of this reseaech was scrutnized or attentived observation method. The findings show that there were seven types of grammatical collocations used by the Jakarta Post newspaper. In conclusion, all types of grammatical collocations proposed by Benson and Ilson (2016) matched with this study, meanwhile the theory about grammatical collocation Bahns (2014) was not in line with this study. en_US
