Writing is the most difficult skill to learn because it requires a wide range of
knowledge. Furthermore, language teachers have faced difficulties while teaching
writing skills due to a lack of vocabulary understanding and poor grammar and
spelling. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of using the Kahoot
application in junior high school students’ writing. This research was conducted in
SMP Swasta Padamu Negeri Medan. The population of this study was the entire
class VIII consisting of class VIII-1 and VIII-2 totaling 40 students. The sample of
this study was both classes. The method used in this study was an experiment with
a one-group pre-test and post-test design. The findings of the study showed that
Kahoot websites have the potential to enhance students' writing skills. It was
shown by the mean score of the pre-test was 53.20. And the mean score of post
test was 78.05. The researcher found the value of the t-test was -18.977, the degree
of freedom was 39, and the 𝑝 value was smaller than 0.05 (0.001 < 0.05). The
conclusion that can be drawn regarding the hypothesis is that the alternative
hypothesis (Ha) is accepted, while the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. This proves
that there is a significant influence in the use of the Kahoot website media that can
improve students' writing skills at the eighth grade SMP Swasta Padamu Negeri
Medan. |
