Abstract:
The study aimed to improve students‟ writing skill in descriptive text through four
square writing method assisted by wordless picture. This study applied classroom
action research design. It was done through planning, action, observation, and
reflection. The location of the research was SMA Harapan Mekar Medan. The
subject of this research was the tenth grade students which consisted of 30
students. Based on the writing descriptive text score, students‟ score keep
improving in every test. In the pre-test the mean score was 56.6, in the cycle I the
mean score was 67.2, and in the cycle II the mean score was 76.7. The
improvement also can be seen from the percentage of the students‟ passed KKM
in writing descriptive text, in pre-test 0% students‟ got point more than 75. In the
cycle I 16.6% students‟ got point more than 75, in the cycle II 80% students got
point more than 75. It means that teaching in writing descriptive text through Four
Square Writing Method assisted by Wordless Pictrue can improved the students‟
writing skill in descriptive text.
