Abstract:
The objective was to investigate the effect of applying question into paragraph on
the students’ achievement in reading comprehension. The method of the research
was the experimental research method. The population of this research was the
tenth (X) grade students of SMA N.1 Kualuh Hulu on Jl. Lintas Sumatera
Aek.Kanopan, Labura in academic year 2016/2017, which consist of sixth parallel
classes. They were X-1 up to X-6. The population was 186 students. By using
cluster random sampling technique, 2 classes were chosen as the sample, class X2 which consist of 30 students as the experimental group and class X-5 which
consist of 30 students as the control group. So, the total of sample is 60 students.
The experimental group was taught by applying Question Into Paragraph strategy
and the control was taught by applying Read Aloud strategy. The instrument of
the research was multiple choice and essay tests in gaining the data. The multiple
choice test consisted of 10 items and essay test consisted of 10 items of test. The
data was analyzed by using t-test formula. Based on the finding indicated that tc>tt
or 81.15>2.00. As a result showed that there was a significant effect of applying
Question Into Paragraph on the students achievement in reading comprehension
because tc was higher than tt (81.15>2.00). It meant that alternative hypothesis
(Ha) was accepted. The percentage of the effect of Question Into Paragraph on the
students’ achievement in reading comprehension was 98.01% and 1.99% was
influenced by other factors.
