Abstract:
The study deals with the effect of using Listen Read Discus strategy in reading
comprehension. Therefore, the experimental research was conducted to acquire
the data. The research based on the descriptive quantitative method. The
population was 2017/2018 the tenth grade students of SMA Al-Hidayah Medan.
The number of population were 60 students. All population were taken by
attendence list as do sample. The test was ten items, consisting 10 questions
which students have to. Each correct answer was given 1 score and incorrect
answer was given 0 score. The finding showed that the students who taught by
using Listen Read Discuss strategy got the better score than those who taught by
using Conventional strategy. From this research, it was found that using Listen
Read Discuss strategy could cause positive effect on the students’ achievement in
reading comprehension, which was proven from the result of analysis showed tobserved
(4.42) was reater than t-table (0.05)(2.00), t-observed (4.42), t-table
(2.00). the result showed that the hypothesis had significant effect of using Listen
Read Discuss strategy on the students’ achievement in reading comprehension in
tenth grade of SMA Al-Hidayah Medan
