Abstract:
The objective of this research was to find out the effect of Applying Question
Answer and Relationship (QAR) Strategy on the Students’ Reading Achievement
in Narrative Text. This research was conducted at SMP Asuhan Jaya, Jln. Kayu
Putih Tj. Mulia Hilir academic year 2016/2017. The sample in this research has
been taken VIII-B, the total of the students were 28. The sample consisted of 28
students were taken by using cluster random sampling technique. Because this
research used pre-experimental so the sample just used one class which 28
students taught by applying Question Answer and Relationship (QAR) Strategy
on the Students’ Reading Achievement in Narrative Text as the sample of the
data. The pre-experimental research method was given Essay Test. Each group
was given a treatment, pre-test and post-test. The result of this research showed
that t-test (8.93) was higher than t-table (1.70) and degree of freedom (df) was 26.
The final hyphothesis showed that Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. It means
that there was a significant effect of Applying Question Answer and Relationship
(QAR) Strategy on the students’ reading achievement in narrative text
