Abstract:
This study deals with the effect of using accrostic technique on the students’
achievement in writing poem. The objective of the study was to investigate the
effect of using accrostic technique on students’ achievement in writing poem.
The study applied the experimental research focusing on one group pre-test posttest
design.
The
population
of
this
research
was
the
tenth
grade
of
SMA
Muhammadiyah
12
Binjai
at
academic
year
2017/2018.
Consiting
of
28
students.
They
were
totally
taken
as
the
sample
of
this
research.
The
instrument
of
collecting
data
was
written
test
administrated
to
the
students.
The
data
were
analyzed
by
using
t-test
formula.
After
analyzing
the
data,
it
was
found
that
tobserved
(5.27
)
greater
than
t-table
(2.4)
with
the
significant
level
α
=
0.05
and
the
degree
of
freedom
(df)
=
26.
The
finding
showed
that
the
hypothesis
of
the
study
was
accepted.
It
means
that
using
Accrostic
Technique
was
significantly
effective
to
the
students’
achievement
in
writing
poem
