Abstract:
The research deals with the effect of example and non example method on the
students‟ speaking achievement. It applied descriptive quantitative research. This
research used experimental research namely One Group pre-test post-test. The
objective of this research was to find out the significant effect of example and non
example method on the students‟ speaking achievement. The population of this
researchSMK Negeri 9 Medan in academic year 2016-2017. The total number of
population was 122 students. The sample was taken only one class. It used the
random sampling, so only the X-1 as a sample whowas consisted 30 students.
The instrument of collecting data was oral test. After the data have been collected
they were analyzed by using t-test formula. The result of analysis showed that
4.18 as >1.70 as where t-observed was higher than t-table (ttable =
with the level of significant α = 0.05, the value of t-table1.68and the degree of
freedom (df=39). The result showed that hypothesis was accepted. It meant that
there was a significant effect of Example and non example method on the
students‟ speaking achievement.
