Abstract:
This study deals with semiotic analysis of Keyface and Elise Reiner in ―Insidious: The
Last Key‖ film. It was aimed to describe types of semiotic analysis are used by Keyface
and Elise Reiner and to find out the reasons of semiotic analysis realized by Keyface and
Elise Reiner in Insidious: The Last Key film. This study was conducted by using
descriptive qualitative research. The sources of data were taken from Insidious: The Last
Key film. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis technique, by describing types of
semiotic analysis are used by Keyface and Elise Reiner and to find out the reasons of
semiotic analysis realized by Keyface and Elise Reiner in Insidious: The Last Key film.
The result showed that there were 10 (30.3%) for sign, 15 (45.5%) for code, and 8
(24.2%) for convention. It can be concluded that code dominantly was used by Keyface
as ghost and Elise Reiner. It means that the most of Elise and Keyface used facial
expression, and gesture in Insidious: The Last Key movie because in horror film, code can
make the viewers‘ expression follow the way of the story such afraid, danger, and brave.
Based on the data found in Insidious: The Last Key that semiotic analysis realized by
Keyface and Elise Reiner is to deliver their mindset, feeling, wish through facial
expression and gesture
