Abstract:
This research discussed the Speech Act President Donald Trump in
White House, USA, which aimed to find out the kinds of communication
functions in the illocutionary act and to identify the effects contained in the
speech. This research focused on John Searle’s theory about pragmatic,
especially in the speech act. The data were analyzed using the descriptive
qualitative method by applying note-taking as the instrument to find out the
valid data. This research was conducted to find out the kinds of communication
functions in the illocutionary act and perlocutionary act. The finding showed
that the kinds of communication functions in the illocutionary act and
perlocutionary act, there were 7 or 36.84% assertives (stating),3 or 15.78 %
directives ( requesting and recommending), 3 or 15.78 % expressives
(thanking), and 6 or 31.57 % commisives (promising and offering), and
declarations 0% (declaration not found in this research). Then in the
perlocutionary act, it is also found 3 sector effect and responses from the
audience, among the sectors: in terms of agenda oil production market and the
development of new treatment for healing to patient corona and subsidy. It is
concluded that assertive of stating and commisive of promising were usually
used by President Donald Trump. Meanwhile, in the perlocutionary act in his
speech, effective and got responses from the audience after listening to the
speech of President Donald Trump in the White House, USA.
