Abstract:
The objective of this research was to investigate the effect of Synectic Model on
students’ achievement in writing descriptive text. It was applied by using
experimental research design. This research was conducted at SMP YP Bina
Satria on Jalan Marelan Pasar 1 Rel Kecamatan Medan Marelan. It was conducted
at the eighth grade students of the first semester at 2018/2019 academy year as the
population and sample of this research. There were two parallel classes,which
each class consisted of 32 students. So, the total population was 64 students. The
data of research were obtained by giving test about writing descriptive text to the
students.The research data were analyzed by using t-test to find out the significane
effect of the model used. The result showed that there was difference on writing
achievement between the students who were taught by Synectic Model and those
who were taught by conventional method. It was proven by the value of t at
1.75 and ttest was 3.27. It means that the was higher than the ttable at the level of
significane of 0.05 (1.670). Based on the research finding, it was concluded that
the using of Synectic Model gave the significane effect on students’ achievement
in writing, especially in form of descriptive text.
