dc.description.abstract The objectives of this study were to find out the types of dicourse markers and to describe the occurrences of dicourse markers that were used by Naomi McDougall Jones, Amel Karboul and Giulia Enders in their speeches. The type of this research was descriptive qualitative. The data were derived from utterances of speeches about discourse markers. Those data were analysized by using the theory pioneered by Deborah Schiffrin. The research finding showed that there were six categories of dicourse markers that were found in this research namely marker of information management, marker of response, marker of connectives, marker of cause and result, marker of temporal adverbs, and marker of information and participation. In conclusion, all the categories of discourse markers were only used by Naomi McDougall Jones. While Amel Karboul and Giulia Enders did’nt use all the categories of discourse markers. The dominant type of dicourse marker was and as marker of connective that were used by 3 speakers. en_US
