dc.description.abstract The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of applying mind mapping learning method on the students’ writing descriptive text. The samples of this study was eighth grade at SMP Swasta Triana. They were VIII-A class as experimental class and VIII-B as controlled class. Each class consisted of 25 students. The method used in this study was quantitative method. In addition, the design of this study was a quasi-experimental study by using pre-test and post-test design. The instrument of this study was written test, the rubric analytical scoring used to score the students’ writing descriptive text on pre-test and post-test. The result of this study that there was a positive effect of the result students’ writing descriptive text after using Mind Mapping learning method. It can be seen from the calculation of tobserve was higher than ttable. The result of tobserve is 3.09 since ttable in the degree of significant 5% is 1.67. It shows that the comparison of tobserve and ttable is 3.09 > 1.67. To sum up, t-test is higher than t-table so Mind Mapping Technique is method on students’ writing of descriptive text en_US
