| dc.description.abstract | This study aims to analyse the impact of applying the shadowing technique using the movie Frozen on the speaking skills of students at MAN 1 Medan. The method chosen for this study is quantitative with a quasi-experimental design. The study population consists of 20 classes of 11th-grade students, with two classes selected as the sample, comprising 60 students. The sample was divided into two groups: the experimental class and the control class. The experimental class received instruction using the shadowing technique derived from the film Frozen, while the control class was taught using traditional teaching methods. The instruments used in this study included speaking tests comprising pre-tests and post-tests, which assessed pronunciation, fluency, and intonation. The data obtained were then analyzed using SPSS. A normality test indicated that the data were not normally distributed; therefore, the Mann- Whitney U test was used to test the hypotheses. The results showed an increase in the average score of the experimental class from 6.83 on the pre-test to 8.75 on the post-test, while the control class showed an increase from 6.38 to 7.13. The results of the Mann-Whitney U test showed a significance value of 0.000, which is less than 0.05. Based on the results obtained, it can be concluded that the shadowing technique using the movie Frozen has a significant effect on students‟ speaking skills. | en_US |
