| Abstract: | This study explore the effect of educational TikTok content from the account @Englishwithclaire in enhancing students’ comprehension and application of English grammar in daily conversation, particularly among tenth grade students at Budi Satrya Senior High School. The research stem from the observable issue of low grammar proficiency among students, which was attributed to repetitive and less engaging teaching methods that rely heavily on traditional media such as Powerpoint. In response to this challenge, the study examine whether integrating short-form, visually engaging, and accessible video content from Tiktok could offer a more effective and motivating approach to grammar instruction. The objective of the study was to determine the impact of educational social media content on students’ grammar mastery when used as a supplementary learning tool. A quantitative method with a quasi experimental design was applied, involving an experimental group of 20 students who were given a pre-test, exposed to grammar focused TikTok videos in three treatment sessions, and then assessed with a post test and grammar exercises. The grammar topics covered included commonly misunderstood elements such as adverb vs adjective, who vs whom, possessive pronouns, prepositions, and other essential structures for conversational fluency. The results indicated a measurable improvement, with the group’s total score increasing from 1450 in the pre-test to 1575 in the post-test, reflecting an 8.62% gain. Additionally, the percentage of students achieving the Minimum Mastery Criterion (KKM) rose from 50% to 85%. Students showed significant progress in certain grammar topics, such as “Their vs There vs They’re,” “Prepositions of Time and Place,” and “Than vs Then,” while others, like “Adverb vs Adjective,” remained areas requiring further reinforcement. These findings suggest that digital content from platforms like TikTok when designed to be educational, concise, and relevant can significantly support students’ grammar comprehension by offering a more relaxed, contextualized, and student-centered learning experience. Therefore, the study concludes that integrating social media platforms into formal education, especially those aligned with students’ digital habits, holds promise as an innovative strategy to enrich English language instruction in the modern classroom. |
