Abstract: This research investigated the effectiveness of Video-Based Learning (VBL) using TED Talks in enhancing speaking skills among English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learners, addressing challenges such as limited vocabulary, pronunciation difficulties, lack of practice, and speaking anxiety. The study was conducted at SMA N 4 Kisaran, North Sumatra, Indonesia, and involved 60 Class XI students, selected via purposive sampling and divided into experimental (n=30, taught with VBL) and control (n=30, taught with textbooks) groups. Data were collected through pretest and posttest speaking assessments and analyzed using SPSS version 27.0 with descriptive and inferential statistics, including an independent t-test. Results showed that the experimental group significantly outperformed the control group (t=23.98, p<0.05), with a 31.39% improvement in fluency, pronunciation, vocabulary, and confidence, compared to 14.81% for the control group. These findings highlight VBL’s efficacy in overcoming speaking challenges, offering educators a valuable tool for EFL instruction.
