Angka Kejadian Dan Gambaran Faktor Yang Mempengaruhi Terjadinya Pediculosis Capitis Di Pondok Pesantren Modern Darul Hikmah, Medan

Abstract

Background: Pediculosis capitis is a disease or condition when hair as well as scalp get infected by pediculus humanus var. capitis, which is an ectoparasite that lives on the outside of its host and sucks blood. Children are at high risk of suffering this disease and could be worse in certain crowded environment, for example dormitories and orphanages. This research aims to observe the occurrence number of this disease and examine the factor of Pediculosis Capitis in Pondok Pesantren Modern Darul Hikmah Medan. Methods: This descriptive research applies Cross Sectional design which using questionnaire on 91 samples.Results: Based on the analysis of this research, all the samples are from girls (100%) who are at the age of 13 years old (20,9%). The affective factors are the number of occupant of one room, which is more than one (100%), all the occupants suffer from lice and hair-mites (100%), the jointly use of certain hair comb and veil (89%), the jointly use of pillow and bed (72,5%), the number of washing hair less than three times a week (57,1%), long hair (62,6%) and straight (59,3%), wearing veil in wet hair (53,8%).Conclusion: The occurrence number of Pediculosis Capitis is extremely high. The affective factors are the habit of using the same hair comb, veil, pillow and bed jointly, as well as having long and straight hair with the frequency of washing hair less than three times a week, and wearing veil in wet hair.
