Abstract: This study deals with Illocutionary Acts in the Movie Script Entitled “Beauty and the Beast”. It was aimed at investigating the types of expressive illocutionary act by the main characters and why the types of expressive illocutionary acts are used by the main characters in the movie “Beauty and the Beast. This study was conducted by using descriptive qualitative research. The subjects of data from the script movie “Beauty and the Beast” taken by downloading from the internet. The instrument in this study was movie. Descriptive analysis technique was conducted to describe the types of expressive illocutionary act by the main characters and why the types of expressive illocutionary acts are used by the main characters in the movie “Beauty and the Beast. The result showed that there were 10 types of expressive illocutionary act used by the main characters, namely: Thanking (4%), Welcoming (4%), Apologizing (9%), Congratulating (0%), Disappointing (2%), Blaming (2%), Requesting (47%), Frightened (19%), Lamenting (4%), and Happiness (9%).
