Abstract: This thesis was conducted to describe the effect of using Collaborative Strategic Reading on students' achievement in reading narrative text at SMP Bina Satria. The method of research was the experimental research method. The population of the study was the eight grade students of SMP Bina Satria on JI. Marelan Raya Pasar 1 for the students of eight grade of Senior High School during the new academic 2015/2016, which consist of two classes. They were VIII A and VIII B class. The number of population were 64 students, the classes were divided into two group, namely experimental group and control group. All the population was taken as the sample. The experimental group was taught by Collaborative Strategic Reading and control group was taught by using ASK to THINK-TELL WHY Strategy. The instrument of research was Reading test. The Reading test was to read the narrative text. The finding indicated that te > t, or 9.57>1.67 the finding of the research showed that there was a significant effect of using Collaborative strategic reading on students' achievement in Reading narrative text because tc was higher that t, (9.57>1.67). It meant that alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. The percentage of the effect of using Collaborative Strategic Reading on students' achievement in reading narrative text was 72.3 %.
