Title: Improving students’ writing achievement through Pentad Strategy

Abstract: The study was aimed to figure out the improvement of students’ achievement in writing recount text through pentad strategy. This study applied classroom research. It was done through planning, action, observation, and reflection. The location of the research was SMP Muhammadiyah 48 Medan Jl. Tangguk Bongkar No.2 Medan. The subject of this research was eighth grade students which consisted of 29 students. Based on the writing recount text score, students’ score keep improving in every test. In the pre-test the mean score was 59.8, in first cycle test the mean score was 72.9 and the second cycle the test mean score was 84.4. The improvement also can be seen from the percentage of the students’ writing recount text, in pre-test 13.7% students got point more than 75 . In the first cycle test 58.6 % from pre-test to cycle I. In the second cycle test 100% students means that teaching writing recount text through pentad strategy can improved the students’achievement in recount text. Pentad strategy made students were interested, easy write recount text and motivate them to write recount text.
