Title: Speech Function in Vladimir Putin’s Speech at FIFA WORLD CUP 2018 in Moscow

Abstract: The study dealt with the analysis of speech function realized in Vladimir Putin’s Speech. The objectives of this study were to investigate the types of speech function used in Vladimir Putin’s Speech and to describe mood strategy. This study applied the qualitative research with using content analysis design. The data were taken from the speech utterances about speech function.Those data were analyzed by using Miles and Huberman analysis model including data reduction, data display, conclusion and verification. The research finding showed that there were four types of speech function found in this research namely statement, question, offer, and command. It was also found that there were one strategies of speech function used in Vladimir Putin’s Speech those were realization speech function in mood. In conclusion, not all the types of speech function were realized in this research, while in terms of strategy, the one kind of speech function strategy were applied.
