DISCOVERING CYBER-SLANG WORDS USED BY TEENAGERS IN INSTAGRAM COMMENTS

Abstract

This research deals with Discovering Cyber- Slang Word Used by Teenagers in Instagram Comment Section. The purpose of this study was to determine and find the type and meaning of the slang used by teenager in Instagram comment section. The data source were taken from 40 data of teenagers in Instagram comment section. The research design used in this research is descriptive qualitative research. This research is described one by one slang words are found from the Instagram comment. From the analysis, there are five types of slang, namely fresh and active, flippant, imitative, acronym and clipping. Then the slang word in the form of words and phrases are classified and analyzed. These findings suggest that there are several slang words and phrases in Instagram used by teenagers that have been classified into a type of slang. This study is expected to contribute to the reader to find out about slang clearly. This can help readers speak English fluently. And it can too is expected to enrich new English vocabulary used in everyday conversation.
