Title: Register Variation On Language Displayed In Government Offices

Abstract: This research deals with register variation on linguistic landscape at government offices around Medan. It is aimed to investigate the type of register functionbased and the realization of register on linguistic landscape. The research is applied descriptive qualitative. The data of this research is the text Displayed on banners and pamphlet (linguistic landscape) at rounding Government Offices that were taken through photography. There are 50 data that were analyzed based on Miles and Huberman, including data reduction data display, and conclusion. The research finding showed that there were five types of register realized on linguistic landscape namely: Frozen Register, Formal register, and Consultative register. It also found that register was realized in linguistic landscape through monolingual sign (Indonesia) and Bilingual Sign (Bahasa-English).
