This research deals with an experimental research which is mainly aimed to investigate the significant effect of applying Synectics model on the students speaking skill assisted using picture media. This research was conducted at SMA Muhammadiyah 18 Sunggal, Jalan Sei Mencirim No.60 Medan Krio, Sumatera Utara at academic year of 2018/2019.The population of this research in the eleventh grade students (class XI IPS-1 up to XI IPS-5) which consists of 150 students. The sample consisted of 60 students were taken by using random sampling technique. The sample was devided into 2 classes, the experimental group which consisted of 30 students taught by using synectics model and control group consisted of 30 students by using lecturing method. The instrument for collecting the data was a oral test. The finding shows that to (5,73) was higher than t-table (1,67) with the level of significance 0,05 and the degree of freedom (df)=58. It shows that the hypothesis alternative (Ha) was accepted. It means that using synectics model on the students speaking skill has significant effect on the students speaking skill. The result showed that the alternative hypothesis of this study was accepted. And the effect of X variable toward Y variable or the effect of applying synectics model on the students speaking skill by using picture media was 57,76% and 42,24% was influenced by another factors.en_US
