Introduction: Scabies is a skin disease caused by infection of the parasite Sarcoptes scabiei.The lack of public knowledge about scabies causes the disease is still endemic in society.Many people consider this disease as a disease that is normal because it is not lifethreatening. The importance of knowledge about scabies is expected that the publicrecognize this disease so that the practice of prevention of transmission of this disease canreduce the prevalence of scabies. Objective: To determine the level of knowledge of studentsin Pondok Pesantren Modern Muhammadiyah Kwala Madu-Langkat about definition andcauses, signs and symptoms, transmission, prevention and treatment of scabies based by
gender, grade, and age. Methods: This study was descriptive with cross sectional study
approach. Total sample of this study was 247 students. Sampling method was stratifiedrandom sampling. Descriptive analysis of the data was processed in the frequencydistribution table. Results: It was found that in 247 students of 134 male students and 113female students. Most have enough knowledge, as many as 124 students (50.2%).Conclusion: Most of the students in Pondok Pesantren Modern Muhammadiyah KwalaMadu-Langkat have enough knowledge about the Scabies disease. |
